Physiotherapy: Clinical Guides, Tools and Courses

Physiotherapy helps people restore, maintain and improve movement, function and physical independence. At Kineed, we translate clinical concepts into practical resources for physiotherapists, physical therapists, students and rehabilitation teams.

Our material is designed to support everyday clinical reasoning: understanding the assessment, selecting useful outcome measures, interpreting results in context and communicating an appropriate rehabilitation plan.

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a health profession focused on movement and function across the lifespan. A physiotherapist may work with people after injury, surgery, respiratory illness, neurological conditions, pain, reduced exercise tolerance or changes in functional independence.

Good physiotherapy begins with a person-centred assessment. This includes the patient’s goals, symptoms, medical history, physical examination, functional performance and relevant safety considerations. Treatment may include education, therapeutic exercise, activity progression, manual techniques when appropriate, respiratory care and strategies that help a person participate in meaningful daily activities.

Clinical areas of physiotherapy

  • Musculoskeletal physiotherapy: assessment and rehabilitation for pain, injury, surgery and movement-related conditions.
  • Respiratory physiotherapy: pulmonary assessment, airway clearance, exercise training, oxygen therapy and cardiorespiratory rehabilitation.
  • Neurological physiotherapy: interventions that support movement, balance, mobility and independence after neurological conditions.
  • Sports and exercise physiotherapy: return-to-activity planning, conditioning and injury prevention.
  • Functional rehabilitation: measuring walking, transfers, strength and participation to guide patient-centred goals.

Use evidence in everyday practice

Evidence-based practice does not mean applying a protocol without thinking. It combines the best available research, professional expertise and the person’s values, goals and circumstances. Kineed resources are structured to help clinicians ask better questions: What does this result mean? Is this measure appropriate for this patient? What change is meaningful? How can rehabilitation progress safely?

Frequently asked questions

Is physiotherapy the same as physical therapy?

Yes. “Physiotherapy” is common in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and many other regions. “Physical therapy” is the usual term in the United States. Both refer to the same profession, although local scope-of-practice rules may differ.

Who are these resources for?

They are created for physiotherapy and rehabilitation professionals, students and clinicians who need clear clinical information. They do not replace individual assessment, local protocols or medical advice.
